Chess Telecom Continues Growth Journey with New Financial Director

Chess Telecom has promoted Mark Lightfoot to Financial Director. Mark joined the company back in June 2008 as Financial Controller and has since gained a great deal of experience which he plans to build upon within his new role.

Mark, aged 36, will be ensuring sound financial control remains whilst encouraging all people in the finance and credit control departments to develop personally and professionally. He will work with the Board to guarantee existing funding is used in the best way possible and to source further funding enabling Chess to grow. As a keen footballer Mark will continue to organise the Chess Knights football team who play locally once a week and participate in charity tournaments through the year.

"I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed to the Board” said Mark. “My time so far at Chess has been the most challenging and rewarding of my career. To be able to continue my development alongside such a committed and capable team of people is a privilege.”
Mark added “2010 will be a tough year for businesses across the UK but with the determination throughout the business, the ambitious growth plans supported by our bank and the solutions we can offer to the market place, I have no hesitation in stating that Chess will thrive.”
His promotion will result in Mark being the 6th person to join the Board at Chess Telecom which is chaired by the IOD Cheshire Director of the Year 2009 and Chief Executive, David Pollock.

“It’s great to see people growing with Chess and being able to promote from within,” said David Pollock. “So far Chess have been bucking the recession trend by having strong plans for growth and planning ahead.  Mark’s financial acumen and work ethic will help Chess grow even more throughout 2010 and beyond.”
