Chess is Green

At Chess we realise that every business is responsible for playing their part in looking after the environment.

There are lots of ways in which Chess people go the extra step to make a difference on a daily basis.

All of these things help Chess to make the small changes that add up to a massive difference. Chess also has a Green Team who meet on a regular basis to help implement new ideas into the business. Their efforts have been recognised by achieving the ISO 14001 environmental standard and winning the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Green Award.

Carbon Offsetting

As part of Chess' objectives to reduce its carbon footprint and encourage people to reduce their own footprint at home and at work, Chess has introduced a new carbon offsetting product. This gives our customers the chance to make a positive contribution to the world around us. To find out more about offsetting your carbon emmissions click here>

The May Day Network

As part of Chess' commitment to climate change and the environment Chess' Chief Executive David Pollock joined over 200 UK business leaders at the May Day Climate Change Summit. As a result Chess pledged a number of changes to be made by the time the May Day Summit 2009 took place. These pledges include:

Calculate its carbon footprint

Report its carbon footprint publicly

Set an absolute target and take action to reduce carbon emissions

Encourage Chess people to reduce their own carbon footprint at home and at work

Work in partnership with suppliers to reduce emissions in the supply chain

Mobilise customers to take action
